Eugène Lion 1867-1945
Carriès School.
Good condition.
Dimensions 18x18.5 cm
A native of Puisaye and a descendant of a family of potters, he was one of the artists who, following in the footsteps of Jean Carriès, contributed to the spread and modernization of ceramics. Influenced by Japan and East Asian ceramics, he brought a new dynamic to traditional forms.
Our piece, a double-spouted gourd, combines the qualities sought after in Lion's work: a renewed form and a very deep oxidized red glaze.
