Provenance: Artist's family.
This self-taught artist with his brother Georges Noel, benefits from informal courses and advice from Armand Petitjean in Pau. After settling in Paris, he became friends with Jacques Villon and Camille Renault. He was selected for the Young Painting Prize in 1952, 1954. Then For the 1956 Critics' Prize. From 1958, his interest in parietal art and archaic writings grew. He then deploys on his canvases an abstraction that is all in material and with signs similar to parietal art.
The canvas presented here comes from a group of works from 1960 from the exhibition of the Grande Ellipse at the Galerie des 43 Saisons Rue de Grenelle.
