The names of all the subjects are inscribed on the back of the work.
Provenance: The artist's family.
Born in Milan and later based in Paris, he studied under Meissonier, Carrière, and Gervex. He exhibited at the Salon, where he was awarded a bronze medal.
Building on this training, he dedicated his career to art restoration. Notably, he spent many years working for the Louvre, where he undertook several significant restoration projects.
