"Charchoune,30"

This work will be referenced and reproduced in the first supplement (vol. 6) of the Serge Charchoune catalogue raisonné, currently in preparation.

Born in Russia in 1888, died in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges in 1975. This artist, closely associated with the pictorial, literary, and musical avant-gardes, explored both painting and poetry. Around 1930, the period during which he created this painting, he began a new cycle of work imbued with Dadaism: the elastic landscapes or ornamental impressionism. It was through this cycle that Charchoune would find the path to his future works, where color would eventually disappear in favor of the rhythm of the brush alone.

"For me, there are two painters: Juan Gris and Charchoune." Picasso
